The people you meet and the friends you make are an important part of your university life. Each year, McGill residences house approximately 2,200 new first-year students. Residences offer a variety of accommodations, reflecting the diversity of our student population:
Dormitory-style residences offer single or double rooms and include meal plans. Apartment-style residences and shared-facilities housing may be the right choice for students who enjoy cooking for themselves or have special dietary needs, as they do not include a meal plan, though any student can purchase meal cards for residence cafeterias.
If you prefer to live on your own, the Off-Campus Housing Office can help you find a place to live in a nearby neighbourhood.
Coming from a small Quebec town made the prospect of moving to the big city and studying at a large, renowned university scary at first. The student population of Montreal, along with the resources and warmth of the McGill community, made the transition quite easy for me.
Faculty of Arts student ASHLEY ZIAI, BA'10, came to McGill to major in International Relations, with a double minor in Middle East studies and languages. She's not only comfortable with McGill and Montreal now - she's working as a student tour guide at the University during the summer.
