The McGill Web System includes the home page (www.mcgill.ca) and all pages produced by the McGill Web Publishing Software (WPS).
McGill is now using the Google Search Appliance.
McGill's home page is the main entrance to a growing family of websites. On www.mcgill.ca (and most web pages produced by the McGill WPS) there is a set of navigation links that take the user to nine (9) top-level pages, which represent the primary audiences and functions of the McGill University community. Depending on who you are and what you're looking for, the following top-level pages can be an excellent place to start:
Many faculty and department site managers also use the McGill WPS to generate web pages that share the same templates, tools and McGill "look and feel" (see this page, for example). The McGill Reporter, McGill News, Newswire and the Community calendar are also part of the McGill WPS, but use slightly different templates.
McGill web pages that do not display this navigation bar or share the common McGill "look and feel" are not produced by the McGill WPS.
Although McGill websites are primarily published in English, many of them, including the top-level pages, are also published either fully or partially in French. If information is available in French on a McGill Web System page a "Français" icon will appear at the top of the page. The University encourages all web publishers to provide web material in both languages.
